Italian luxury brand Valentino has tapped Model, actress, and It Girl Kaia Gerber, South Korean actress Son Ye Jin and Taiwanese singer, songwriter, and actress Jolin Tsai as the faces of its L’Ecole Spring/Summer 2024 collection.
Conceived by Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli and lensed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott at the 7 World Trade Center in New York, the campaign was inspired by the city’s vibrant energy and celebrates femininity. Reflecting Piccioli’s commitment to inclusivity, it unites personalities from around the globe as the three women convey an artistic statement in vibrant looks from the new collection against scenic views of Manhattan.
‘L’Ecole is a story of feminine assertiveness, a reappropriation of the body, and an ode to its beauty. When I thought about this collection, I had in mind the immense power of the women’s body and when it came to choose the talents who could embody this concept, I looked for strong personalities. Jolin Tsai, Kaia Gerber and Son Ye Jin were my first choice and I am very grateful they jumped in. I like to see these three women standing on the urban panorama: they are part of the contemporary world, and yet they stay true to their own vision. They are writing their own story, every single day,’ Piccioli said.
Presented in October at the Beaux-Arts school in Paris, the L’Ecole collection celebrates the female body, representative of freedom and emancipation. It ccomprises of lightweight pieces, and fluid silhouettes such as open-worked dresses over brief skirts and minidresses and vest tops. Handcrafted with care and precision, using an Altorilievo (High Relief) technique, the pieces feature hand-cut motifs inspired by nature that are shaped, and assembled on fabrics such as linen, crepe Couture, and piquet. Further accentuating the collection is the Garavani VLogo Moon bag inspired by the shape of the crescent moon.
